Spring arrives in winter with flowering quince in bloom!
Flowering quince is one of the very earliest shrubs to bloom in our gardens, while rain is still pouring down. From January to March the blooms of these fabulous cultivars, from apricot to crimson to pale peach, adorn the wet garden. This is the “queen” of the Japanese varieties, with blossoms that vary from red to pink to white, opening in late February to mid-March. Presented in a handbuilt pottery vessel made by local Portland artist Sherri Aytche.
