Holding out for cooler nights!
“Red Dragon” is one of the iconic Japanese Maples that finds a home in every location that supports these stylish trees. Delicate filigree leaves and open branching structure make a magnificent show in a sunny garden. My specimen was raised to promote wide, uplifted branches to give a light and airy elegance, and she has kept all her charms in bonsai form. Leaf color remains reddish throughout the summer months, tinged with green as warmer days arrive. Fall brings shades of crimson and scarlet to the palette. She has not succumbed to the falling temperatures of our rainy season although it is the latter half of October. Another few weeks will bring forth her fiery hues. Ten years old.
