DESCRIPTION:Note:– We will be observing social distancing as usual at this event hosted at a private residence– \nPlease join us to wander among the bonsai for sale and my private collection as we host visitors on Saturday\, October 10th\, 2020. At my small bonsai nursery all specimens are designed by the owner/artist (Lucy) and we are frequent participants at local art shows and festivals throughout the region. There will be finished bonsai as well as nursery stock and a limited number of pots available for sale at this once a year event.  You are welcome! Come and celebrate five years in business serving the local arts community with quality collectable specimens of rare and unusual plants in custom made containers from local potters. Display stands made by master wood craftsman John Harden of Grants Pass will also be on display.

DESCRIPTION:Rescheduled for Saturday\, October 10th– Due to wildfires and ensuing local crisis conditions in the past few weeks we have deemed it best to wait till air quality improves to host you to our bonsai collection and sale.          You are welcome at our annual Bonsai Show and Sale\, hosted by Bonsai Akira at our home and nursery in Portland. We will be observing social distancing by scheduling visitors– either call ahead or come and wait in the peaceful shaded garden for your opportunity to commune with the trees under the big Dawn Redwood. A host will be limiting to two persons in the nursery area at a time to allow for the safety of our visitors. No contact sales are provided for\, and sanitizer and gloves will be available– please wear a mask for this event.

SUMMARY:Open Garden--Cancelled Due to Family Illness
DESCRIPTION:Sorry this Event has Been Cancelled\nOur last event of the summer for 2020 will be an open garden and bonsai sale\, on the last weekend of June.       Saturday\, June 27th and Sunday\, June 28th we’ll welcome you to the outdoor studio. The entire collection of bonsai will be on display including my personal specimens. Over 130 bonsai are ready for sale\, in unique and handmade pottery containers created by local artists. Enjoy the display garden featuring lilies and roses\, and hydrangea in their glory and take a relaxed stroll through the shade garden bonsai display. We’ll be asking folks to keep physical distance and limiting to two visitors at a time\, so all can be comfortable to linger. Appointments available for those who need extra care to be outdoors during the pandemic. Masks recommended for all visitors– please keep yourself and others safe as we explore “being together apart” in the nursery.

DESCRIPTION:We’ll again be opening the nursery and display garden to visitors on the weekend of Saturday\, may 16th and Sunday\, May 17th. Hours are 11:00am to 5:00pm. Please call for an appointment if you are unable to come at these times or if you need to visit when there are no others present due to risk status. We hope you’ll consider a little “sanctuary time” in our quiet urban garden setting\, where you can commune with bonsai under the shade of the Dawn Redwood\, surrounded by blooming rhododendrons and woodland flowers. Tranquility is the theme for our springtime hospitality\, in spite of not being able to offer you the traditional popcorn and lemonade…! SUMMARY:First Open Garden for 2020--
DESCRIPTION:Our first Open Garden of the year\, is set for Saturday\, April 25th and Sunday\, April 26th\, and will proceed as planned. We’ll be welcoming visitors to the display garden to wander under the dawn redwood and enjoy the large variety of flowering bonsai and conifers. Camellias and Azaleas are in bloom\, and Lilacs are coming on! \nWe have permission to be in business from the Oregon Nursery Association\, and will be showcasing incredible bonsai specimens\, both from my private collection and for sale. Please bear with us as we figure out the logistics of “social distancing” in our tiny Portland landscape. We will be scheduling visitors one at a time at the front of the driveway\, to allow maximum freedom to view all the bonsai on display. Unfortunately we can’t offer our traditional lemonade and popcorn fare– but we’ll have the coffee on and the welcome mat proudly out! \nThe garden will be exceptionally beautiful\, with the first blooms already evident on rhododendrons and lilacs\, and many new shade loving perennials and ferns in our freshly designed beds. The trees will be displaying their new raiment–Japanese Maples\, Azaleas and Rhododendron species\, Conifers and Hydrangeas are all waking up to welcome visitors as the season progresses. Feel free to contact us with questions\, or to schedule a private visit to the garden this spring. It’s a quiet interlude in our bustling city landscape\, and you are most welcome!
